Our 9/11 Day Meal Pack Event for Cleveland takes place on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Meal packing events empower groups and their volunteers to pack meals and deliver hope in the form of nutritious food. For volunteers, coming together in a fun, high-energy and meaningful service event to hand-pack meals is an impactful experience.

For the 2023 9/11 Day Cleveland meal packing event, we plan to have 42 packing stations and close to 800 volunteers serving in a variety of roles.

There are lots of ways to help throughout the day. We are actively recruiting for assistance with event set-up, check-in/hospitality support, table captains, meal box runners and more.

Please note that assembly line roles are currently full. If there are cancellations, there may be an opportunity to serve on the assembly lines.

There are numerous other volunteer roles that make an event such as this possible. Here are the roles we are recruiting for:

Table Captain – Assembly line leaders, responsible for training teams of meal packers, keeping energy levels high, and troubleshooting throughout shifts.

Heavy Lifter – Unload meal ingredients from their bags/cases/cartons and keep a continual supply in the tubs on the packaging line.

Runner – Oversee packing process across multiple lines to ensure efficiency (e.g. not too much air in bags, etc.), carry completed boxes to pallets.

Registration/Check-in – Support and ensure a smooth general volunteer check-in process.

Directional Support – Serve as a ‘human arrow’ – ensuring that volunteers know where to go.

Hospitality – Support green room and/or Staff Training room, ensuring that snacks/drinks are restocked, etc.

All of the meals you help pack will stay right here in Northeast Ohio. We have partnered with The Cleveland Food Bank so our meals will be distributed locally.

While we’re packing, we have fun! We play music, get to know each other, and cheer each other on as we fill boxes.

For safety reasons, the minimum age for volunteering is 18 years old.

Park in the parking lot located on the north side (lake side) of the stadium. The entrance to the parking lot is across from the grand staircase.  This is the entranceway WITHOUT the parking booth. If you park anywhere else other than this designated parking lot, you will be ticketed.

Once parked, you will cross the street and go up the grand staircase. There will be signage and someone directing you to the Northwest Suite Entrance.

When you arrive, you will be checked in and given your role for your shift.

Depending on your role you may be asked to use the provided handwashing and/or hand sanitizing stations, and will be presented with a stylish hair net/beard net.

You will be at your station for approximately 90 minutes to two hours.

We’ll have everything required for you to help oversee the packing of the meals.

Leave all large purses, backpacks, totes, and bags at home. Large bags will not be allowed in the packing area, and there will be no place to store them. Small bags, such as a crossbody bag, will be permitted and can be stored under your packing table.

No food or drink will be allowed in the meal packing area, though you may bring your own water bottle, and take it outside the main packing area to drink when needed.

Please wear comfortable and casual clothing. No hats, as you may need to wear a hair net.  Closed-toe shoes are recommended. Shorts and T-shirts are permitted (no tank tops allowed). Shoes should be comfortable as you will be standing for two hours.

Some volunteers will be asked to remove all jewelry and/or accessories before entering the packing area.  This includes: earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, pins, brooches, etc. Medical alert bracelets may be worn.
